Company challenges: setup, teams and what admins can see

How to run a GymRats challenge for your company or team at work.

Written by Arthur Magalhães

Any GymRats group can be a company challenge. You don't need a special account.

1. Create the group

  • Pick Challenge if it has fixed start and end dates (e.g. a 30-day challenge), or Club for ongoing company fitness. See Group types: Challenges & Clubs.

  • Choose a scoring mode. Days Active is the fairest for mixed fitness levels. Hustle points or Metrics suit more competitive groups. See Scoring modes.

  • Set start and end dates in Settings → Basic Details. See How to edit group settings.

2. Invite your colleagues

Share the invite link or group code in your company chat or email. See How to invite people to the group.

  • For a company-only group, make it private so the admin approves each join request. See Invite settings.

3. Split into teams (optional)

Teams let departments or offices compete against each other.

  1. Group settings → Advanced Details → turn on Teams.

  2. Create teams in the Rankings tab with the + icon.

  3. Members join a team themselves, or admins and moderators add them.

Everyone still has an individual score as well as the team score. See How to create teams.

4. Keep it fair

What admins can see

Admins see the same things every member sees: the group feed, check-ins posted to the group and the rankings. Admins can't see members' check-ins in other groups, their email, their health data or their connected apps.

Does my company have TotalPass?

If your company offers TotalPass, employees can connect it to GymRats and get Pro. See TotalPass.
